The Student Veterans of America at Texas A&M chapter is an officially recognized chapter of Student Veterans of America. Our extremely active SVA hosts events throughout each semester devoted to enhancing the student veteran experience by focusing on their social, mental, and physical well-being, career readiness skills, and sense of community.

MEET CORY GRISWOLD, 2022-23 PRESIDENT
Cory is an Air Force veteran with 15 years of service and a Colorado native. He is an Animal Sciences major, Class of '23, whose passions are serving fellow veterans and impacting positive changes for the agricultural/farming industry.

MEET JESSE ZAVALA, 2022-23 CO-VP FOR RECRUITMENT & MEMBER DEVELOPMENT
Jesse is a well-travelled, 6 yr Marine Corps veteran who loves meeting new people and is passionate about global affairs and interpersonal communication. His hobbies include reading, travelling, and sharing campfire stories. Jesse's goal as an officer is to connect veterans with the critical resources and relationships that will help them achieve their personal and professional goals. He will ALWAYS make time for the veterans in his community and firmly believes veterans should be proud of their service, using their skills to become leaders and pioneers wherever they go.

MEET KRISTINA LOPEZ, 2022-23 CO-VP FOR RECRUITMENT & MEMBER DEVELOPMENT
Kristina served in the Army Reserve for 9 years as a paralegal specialist. She is currently studying finance at Mays Business School, and will be entering energy corporate banking after graduation this fall semester. Kristina has served as an SVA officer since the spring of 2021, helping student veterans achieve their career goals through networking and continuous professional development.

MEET LUIS MARTINEZ JR., 2022-23 VP FOR FINANCE & FUNDRAISING
Luis served 5 years in the Marine Corps as a Geospatial Intelligence Analyst (MOS 0261). He decided to attend Texas A&M after visiting a friend for an Aggie Football game in Fall 2016. He earned a Master of Geoscience in GIST in 2018 and began a Ph.D. in Geography in Spring 2019. Luis is a 2019 National Defense Science & Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellow and a 2020 Pat Tillman Scholar. Through his research and extracurricular activities, he aims to educate and mentor the future of the geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) field and improve geospatial capabilities for the U.S. military and intelligence community. Luis chose to serve as an SVA officer to support his fellow veterans with their academic, personal, and professional goals.

MEET PAUL RODGERS, 2022-23 VP FOR MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & EVENTS
Paul is a Marine Corps veteran with 5 years of service. He is a Psychology major, Class of '23, and plans to get his master's degree in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology here at TAMU. He calls Park City, Utah home and is a skiing enthusiast who loves the mountains and the snow.

MEET JANNETH NAJERA, 2022-23 VP FOR COMMUNITY OUTREACH & ENGAGEMENT
Janneth is a Marine Corps veteran with 8 yrs of service. She is an International Studies major, Class of '23, with a passion for creativity, personal growth, and public service.

About SVA:
The mission of the Student Veterans of America at Texas A&M University is to provide our veterans and military-affiliated students support, networking assistance, and advocacy throughout higher education for a successful transition and experience.
All currently enrolled student veterans at Texas A&M and its branch/satellite campuses are considered members of the SVA. Membership begins immediately upon enrollment at Texas A&M and there are no membership dues.
General Meetings and Events:
We host general meetings and events throughout each semester. Professional development opportunities such as etiquette dinners, professional headshots, resume & business card workshops, and networking, etc. are hosted year-round.
In the Fall, we host tailgates for certain home games. In the Spring we host a Military Ball.
Most of our events are free to attend. Additionally, the SVA believes strongly in continuous service and we coordinate opportunities to serve our community throughout the year.
