Assessment, Marketing & Campus Programs Coordinator
Ashley comes from a family filled with military service members, veterans and first responders, who are the inspiration behind her passion for serving veterans in higher education. Though she went to school for radiology technology, Ashley found her calling when she began assisting veterans with their readmission process while working in the Office of Admissions at Texas A&M. From there she moved to processing federal and state veteran education benefits in Scholarships & Financial Aid, where she spent nearly three years processing federal and state veterans educational benefits. In 2018, Ashley accepted a position with the VRSC, where continues to happily serve our student veterans and military affiliated students.
As the Assessment, Marketing & Campus Programs Coordinator, Ashley leads the office's efforts in marketing the VRSC and its programs and services to the Texas A&M campus community, state and nation. Monitoring the Aggie Veteran Network and social media accounts, writing press releases and articles on our programs and events, and keeping our webpage current and relevant are just a few of the ways she ensures our student veterans and Aggie network remains informed and is the media contact for the VRSC. Ashley also oversees the assessment efforts of our programs and services, including data collection and satisfaction surveys, to ensure we are continuously setting the industry standard for those who "Serve Well Those Who Have Served." Fulfilling her campus programs role, Ashley oversees the planning for the annual Warrior Scholar Project at Texas A&M, and ensures our partnerships with campus and external entities remain on track and run smoothly and efficiently.
In addition to her VRSC role, Ashley volunteers her time to serve as the staff advisor to the following military affiliated student organizations: Aggie Shields, Patriot Paws of Aggieland, and Student Veterans of America at Texas A&M University.
In her time away from work, Ashley and her husband, Adam, enjoy time with their two children, Cavan and Kailyn. The Drakes love to swim, watch movies together, and travel to see family. Ashley enjoys reading (when she has those rare, quiet moments), crafting, and baking delicious treats for family and friends to enjoy.
