Military & Veteran Cord
Consistent with its rich military history, Texas A&M University proudly recognizes the commitment and selfless service of our military graduates by the red, white, and blue graduation cords. These cords identify our graduating active duty, National Guard, reserve and student veterans to signify the appreciation that Texas A&M University feels toward our military and veteran community for their service and sacrifice.
Prior to graduation in May & December, the VRSC hosts a Veteran Graduation Reception to present each graduating student veteran with a red, white and blue cord. The reception is typically on the Wednesday before graduation in the Stark Galleries of the Memorial Student Center.
For August graduates and our distance education students, you can contact the VRSC at 979-845-3161 or aggievets@tamu.edu to get more information about how to get your cord. NOTE – Students in the Health Science Center, Law School and Mays MBA programs will receive their cords from their colleges.
Graduating Military & Veteran Staff Appreciation Coin
Graduating student veterans will also receive a specifically designed “Thank You” challenge coin (free of charge) when they receive their graduation cord.
The coin will include instructions for the student veteran to present the coin to the faculty, staff member or advisor that made the most significant impact on them during their time at A&M.
The VRSC Director will also send a letter of appreciation to the Faculty/Staff member recognized by each student veteran. Copies of each letter are also sent to the individual’s Department Head and Dean to help raise awareness of the great support that our faculty/staff provide student veterans.
