NUTRITIONAL WELLNESS PROGRAMS
Research shows that being hungry is associated with poor mental and physical health as well as academic success. The VRSC manages several programs to ensure our Aggie Veterans' stomachs are just as well fed as their brains!
Pocket Pantry
The VRSC's Pocket Pantry offers temporary relief to student veterans who need immediate access to non-perishable foods and personal hygiene items. Students are able to discreetly and conveniently shop from the pantry during regular VRSC hours. Ask any VRSC staff member for assistance and access to the pantry. The VRSC Pocket Pantry is sustainable thanks to a generous grant from Brazos Valley Cares.
Aggie Veterans experiencing a financial emergency are encouraged to apply for the VRSC's SAVE Fund and connect with Brazos Valley Cares for additional support.
Campus & Community Food Pantries
The 12th Can - Students can receive a larger supply of food and other basic necessities through The 12th Can, Texas A&M's on-campus food pantry. This is a student-led program that holds limited hours. Please visit their webpage for pantry dates, client form, and time slot registration information.
Brazos Valley Food Pantries - The Brazos Valley Food Bank supplies food to several area food pantries for public distribution. Please visit their webpage to find the closest distribution pantry and its hours of operation.
Meals for Vets
The Meals for Vets program is a partnership between Texas A&M University and Honor Veterans Now, and offers eligible student veterans a free meal plan that provides for one meal per day at a campus dining hall. Meal plans are available to eligible student veterans in distance education residing in Texas who are enrolled in distance education or at a branch campus. For full eligibility requirements and additional information on the program, visit the Meals for Vets site. *Please note: At this time, Meals for Vets is not accepting applications for its program.
